KNAK 33

It’s my mid-summer playlist! I pulled this together from some recent releases, and I’m hoping you find something new to add to your rotation.

You can checkout the playlist on Lala below (after the jump) as well as the iTunes iMix.

As always, please send any recommendations and comments my way.

Enjoy,
-Dave

The list is below….

Artist Song Title Album
1. Dirty Projectors Stillness Is The Move Bitte Orca
Start it off with an eclectic groove from a loose indie-rock group based out of Brooklyn.
2. Dirty Projectors No Intention Bitte Orca
another one from Dave Longstreth’s group
3. Basement Jaxx Raindrops Raindrops
Fun electronic track from a South London duo. Available on Amazon (not iTunes or Lala yet)

This Toronto group got a lot of buzz at SXSW this year.
5. Sunset Rubdown You Go On Ahead Dragonslayer
Led by Montreal’s Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade.
6. The Gossip Love Long Distance Music for Men
Beth Ditto is a force of nature!
7. Passion Pit Little Secrets Manners
Definitely catch these guys live if you can. Manners is definitely one of my favorite releases this year so far.
8. The Twelves When You Talk demo track
I love this smooth electronic track. Not available on iTunes/Amazon/Lala, but you can get the free MP3 on Last.FM.
9. Owl City Cave In Ocean Eyes
Available only on iTunes for now. Dream pop track from a Minnesota band whose lead singer’s voice reminds me of Ben Gibbard.
10. Rainbow Arabia Holiday in Congo Kabukimono
This LA duo gives us middle-eastern & world music crossed with electro-punk
11. St. Vincent Actor Out of Work Actor
Brooklyn-based Annie Clark created a whole album based on tracks inspired by her favorite films.
12. The Dead Weather I Cut Like A Buffalo Horehound
Jack White-composed track from this newly formed rock supergroup composed of members from Raconteurs, The Kills, and Queens of the Stone Age
13. We Were Promised Jetpacks It’s Thunder And It’s Lightning These Four Walls
Heavy scottish accent on this track from this Glasgow rock band’s debut LP
14. Broken Records Nearly Home Until The Earth Begins To Part
Beautiful track from Edinburgh-based band that definitely reminds me of Arcade Fire
15. The Temper Trap Sweet Disposition Sweet Disposition (single)
Australia band that has been appropriately described as having choirboy vocals over U2-inspired tracks.
