The Mariners Break a Record!

Unfortunately, it’s a dubious one.   With tonight’s loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the Seattle Mariners record now stands at 58 wins and 100 losses.   And with an estimated $118 million team payroll for 2008, the Mariners are the first team in history with a $100M+ payroll to have 100 losses.

I got to see a rare Mariners’ victory at Oakland against the A’s tonight. The M’s rallied from behind to take the game 6-4. It was great to see the offense produce, and Morrow got the save throwing some crazy heat (the radar gun said 100mph). [...]
