			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img src="http://www.dnak.com/images/OmnivoresDilemma2.jpg" alt="Omnivore's Dilemma" hspace="6" vspace="6" width="198" height="282" align="left" /> Michael Pollan&#8217;s <a href="http://www.michaelpollan.com/omnivore.php"><em>The Omnivore&#8217;s Dilemma</em></a> opened my eyes to the massive changes we have made to our own food supply with possibly detrimental consequences.   How did we manage to engineer the ruminant cow, a miracle of nature that can convert grass into protein, into an accessory to our growing dependence on petroleum and subsidized corn?    And the descriptions  &#8220;100% natural grain-finished beef&#8221;, &#8220;organic chicken&#8221;, &#8220;eggs from organic hens&#8221; have much different meanings to me now.<br />
I don&#8217;t think I will ever look at food the same way again.</p>
