Dnak 52

Go back to number 1 – 10.

Artist Song Title Album
11 Real Estate It’s Real Days
Let’s keep the mood upbeat wth a sunny track off of the sophomore album from New Jersey’s Real Estate
12 Wild Flag Romance Wild Flag
I remember seeing this all-female surpergroup (rising out of the ashes of Slater Kinney) at SXSW. Great to see them bring the same brand of hard charging rock on their debut album. Official video.
13 Dum Dum Girls Bedroom Eyes Only In Dreams
Let’s follow with another all female rock group, with a tinge of retro nostalgia out of Los Angeles. Official video
14 Youth Lagoon Afternoon The Year of Hibernation
Boise’s Trevor Powers (aka Youth Lagoon) should be an inspiration to every aspiring musician. He’s a solo artist (although you wouldn’t be able to tell by the sound) that took off when he released a free single to download on his Bandcamp site.
15 Blind Pilot We Are the Tide We Are the Tide
I absolutely loved the debut album from Portland’s Blind Pilot, and am happy to hear new music from their sophomore effort.
16 Future Islands Balance On the Water
Electronic synth-heavy track from Baltimore-based Future Islands. Official video
17 Rob Crow Prepare to Be Mined He Thinks He’s People
I check out everything that Pinback’s Rob Crow does. Amidst all his myriad of projects, he also puts out solo efforts. Here’s a track from his latest.
18 Apparat Black Water The Devil’s Walk
I think that Berlin’s Sascha Ring (aka Apparat) is going to be a big deal. A beautiful track. Official video
19 Surfer Blood I’m Not Ready Tarot Classics
Heard these guys close out their SXSW performance in March with this number, now released on their new EP.
20 Feist How Come You Never Go There Metals
Canadian indie darling Feist is back with her latest album, and she maintains her spare sound, perhaps even going even more low-fi. Hope you enjoyed dnak 52!
